MR had good reason to celebrate on August 21 in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. In the famous Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, over 350 invited guests celebrated together with the MR sales team and technical team from BELA 15 successful years of partnership between Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen and the BELA Group.
Within the huge number of representatives from the state owned energy utility Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) special guests W B Ganegala (Chairman) and his deputy C.K. Perera have been attending the event. In addition several high-ranking representatives from various OEMs, generation companies, and the very modern and new Colombo airport joined the MR representatives Tobias Breinl and Oliver Köhne, who also had the great honor of welcoming the deputy ambassador of Germany in Sri Lanka, Mr. Michael Dohmen. In his speech, deputy ambassador Dohmen stated how impressed he was by the very long lasting and highly successful partnership between MR and BELA. The speech given by BELA’s Managing Director Chanaka Benjamin looked back to the start of the partnership and the tough economic period associated with the civil war. He pointed out, that the responsible sales manager Tobias Breinl had regularly visited Sri Lanka over already one decade even though the journey had been dangerous on several occasions. Benjamin emphasized that the success of MR products in Sri Lanka was inseparably linked to Breinl. Chanaka Benjamin thanked Tobias Breinl for his years of commitment and gave him a traditional gift from Sri Lanka: an ornately decorated statue of an elephant.
